River North

If you want to be in the city without being in the city, this is the place to do it. River North is a compelling area that offers both big city attitude and charming neighborhood vibes. Tree-lined streets, river views on both sides, and unparalleled bridges that are more like artwork provide the charm, but the high-rise buildings and new construction bring in the modern flare.

While you can find some historic mansions here (that will cost you, to be sure), most enjoy the city-life feel, walkability, and entertainment and food scene from the doorsteps of their condos.

River North has culinary delights to please the masses, from high-end (Tanta- Peruvian food) to inexpensive but off-the-charts good (Seoul Taco- Mexican and Korean fusion- the combo you never knew you needed).

And, don’t worry, you can stay local with plenty of opportunities to work up your appetite:

  • Montgomery Park- whether you want river views or city views as you laze riverside, this park will accommodate
  • The Merchandise Mart- this iconic landmark is home to a myriad of businesses and offers the neighborhood some history and some art
  • Chicago Architectural Tour- tour the city in all its glory by riverboat and learn about the buildings that make the Windy City one of the most fascinating
  • Shopping, shopping, more shopping- Michigan Ave. and Hubbard St. have shops galore, grab your wallet and see what happens

All this and a top-notch nightlife. Can it get better?

This is one of the most stunning and vibrant downtown neighborhoods in all of the United States, making it a premier area to live (and play). If you want to call River North home, expect to pay around $420k for your condo. Although, some will run you closer to $20 million. But, as you’ve always heard, you get what you pay for.
